The Magnolia Schoolhouse offers a one-of-a-kind educational community where children benefit from small group learning in a beautifully designed Montessori environment. Our micro-school includes a thoughtfully curated Learner Library and a Parent Library, fostering an atmosphere of continuous growth for both students and their families.
We recognize that children thrive when given the opportunity to explore and learn at their own pace. By providing a structured yet flexible educational setting, we empower learners to develop independence, creativity, and a deep appreciation for knowledge. Our program is designed to offer the best of both worlds—combining the structure and social benefits of a school setting with the adaptability and personalization of homeschooling.
We emphasize the importance of living a natural life in accordance with nature, as well as protecting childhood and family. Our program is designed to support children having more time with their family, encouraging them to develop their family values and creating wonderful childhood memories. Parents are included in many of our events and activities, allowing for the perfect balance of an educational setting and homeschool.
Holistic Child Development
At The Magnolia Schoolhouse, we take a whole-child approach to education. We emphasize the importance of physical health, emotional well-being, and social connection alongside academic achievement. Our learners benefit from:

Academics and Skill-Building
We utilize a full AMI Montessori Curriculum, integrating methods of natural living and project-based learning. Our program is built on the foundation of core academic subjects, enriched with hands-on activities and life skills that prepare learners for real-world success.
Mathematics: We start with foundational number recognition and progress through advanced concepts such as algebra and geometry, ensuring each child moves at their own pace. Topics include measurement, money management, and problem-solving strategies that encourage mathematical confidence.
Language Arts: We take a comprehensive approach to language development, incorporating phonics, reading comprehension, creative writing, and structured composition. Book clubs, storytelling projects, and interactive writing assignments inspire a love for literature and communication.
Science: Our hands-on approach to science covers diverse topics, including earth science, chemistry, physics, biology, and botany. Learners engage in experiments, demonstrations, and projects that cultivate critical thinking and scientific inquiry.
History and Social Studies:
- American History: Taught through civics, students experience our government system firsthand by participating in mock trials, elections, and legislative sessions.
- Global Studies: We navigate the world through cultural explorations, geography, traditions, and positive historical contributions, encouraging a love of culture and humanity.
Social and Emotional Learning: Character development is at the heart of our program. We focus on leadership, gratitude, empathy, and problem-solving through discussions, activities, and real-world applications. While we do not teach religion, we explore world beliefs as part of cultural education, ensuring inclusivity for all families.
Real-World Learning Opportunities
We believe in experiential learning that extends beyond the classroom. Our learners participate in:
- Entrepreneurial endeavors, including pop-up restaurants, markets, and business ventures.
- Community engagement, with projects that foster civic responsibility and leadership.
- Specialized workshops, such as cooking, chess, music, drama, and survival skills.
Weekly workshops with local experts enrich the learning experience, allowing students to develop specialized skills in a variety of disciplines.
A Balanced Approach to Education
Our program operates Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 3 PM, allowing families more quality time together while maintaining a structured educational experience. Fridays are open for additional enrichment opportunities hosted by our Educators . We do not assign homework, opting instead for in-class learning and hands-on experiences that build mastery organically.
Assessment is personalized and growth focused. Rather than traditional grading, we provide quarterly reports detailing each child’s progress in math and language, along with recommendations for continued learning at home. (Please note that, at this time, we do not have the capacity to serve Learners who have a diagnosis or require additional support or behavioral management.)
The Meaning Behind “The Magnolia Schoolhouse”
We chose the name Magnolia Schoolhouse for a reason. The learning environment is that of a traditional schoolhouse, with mixed aged learning in one large space, combined with hands on learning opportunities. The magnolia tree is one of great beauty. The seeds of a magnolia tree are kept snugly in a cone like pod, and when the conditions are perfect, the pod opens and the seeds erupt and spread, landing in the rich soil around it. Those seeds sprout and grow into magnificent and beautiful trees, with deep and widespread roots below, stable and solid trunks in the middle, and thick, solid leaves with stunningly beautiful flowers that have a strong, sweet scent that entice others to them. The fallen branches of a magnolia tree decompose and enrich the soil they land on… it thrives in most conditions and asks for nothing in return. In various cultures, the magnolia flower symbolizes perfection, innocence, youth, joy, heath and perseverance. What a perfect name to show how we view our program and each Learner that enters The Magnolia Schoolhouse.
Tuition
The Magnolia Schoolhouse in Vero Beach is $10,800 for the 2025/2026 program year, and $10,900 for the 2026/2027 program year. Your $500 deposit at contract signing goes towards your tuition.

What is our curriculum?
Our curriculum utilizes the full academic curriculum of AMI Montessori spanning over a three-year cycle, combined with project based learning and social emotional development. It has been designed to foster a love for learning, focusing on critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. We integrate Montessori principles and materials, as well as supporting growth through the various sciences and civics. ?
What age range do you serve?
Magnolia Schoolhouse serves children from age 3 through approximately age 13, offering three mixed-age learning communities:
- Primary Program: ages 3–6
- Lower Elementary: ages 6–9
- Upper Elementary / Middle School: ages 9–13
Each program is designed to support independence, curiosity, and responsibility at a developmentally appropriate level. Placement within a community is based on age, readiness, and a child’s ability to engage meaningfully in a self-directed, collaborative environment.
How do we support students?
We support students through thoughtful guidance, consistent mentorship, and a learning environment designed to foster independence and confidence. Rather than individualized programs, we offer a shared Montessori and project-based framework that allows learners to engage with materials and various projects at developmentally appropriate stages.
Our goal is for students to thrive academically and enjoy the time they spend with us. We focus on the whole child, meeting learners where they are within our program model and allowing progress to unfold naturally. Academics are never forced; instead, students explore concepts through guided lessons, independent work, and regular check-ins with Educational Guides.
What is your Tuition?
Magnolia operates as a tuition-funded educational program, and tuition is assessed for the full academic year rather than on a monthly basis.
Vero Beach Location:
• 2025–2026 school year: $10,800
• 2026–2027 school year: $10,900
Enrollment reflects a year-long commitment to the program. While payment plans may be offered for convenience, tuition remains an annual obligation.

How can we follow along with the program at home?
This is our favorite question! It can be a challenge when designing a hybrid program like we have, and have come up with a way that makes it easy for parents to enhance what we are learning about at home as well. Since we utilize mixed age learning in our program, it is easy for you to implement our topics at home for all ages as well. We have designed an outline of our topics for the many interesting things we will be discovering during out time together. This allows parents to further dive into those topics that their child and family are interested in during the time together. It utilized the true Montessori methods of following the child and his or her interests.
What teaching methods do we use?
We employ Montessori methods, project-based learning, and other interactive and student-centered teaching methods that encourage a love of learning, independent learning and critical thinking.

What are your hours of operation?
Magnolia Schoolhouse operates four days per week from 9am-3pm, following a homeschool-friendly calendar with fewer instructional weeks than schools.public or private schools.
Our days are intentionally structured to allow for long morning work cycles, hands-on learning, outdoor time, creative exploration, and meaningful project work. We do not assign homework, believing that children benefit from unstructured time for rest, family life, travel, and real-world experiences.
This schedule is well-suited for families who value balance, independence, and depth of learning over rigid pacing or test-driven instruction.
We do not provide any before or after care services.
Are there extracurricular workshops?
Yes, each year we offer additional workshops including Spanish, Music, Art, Sewing, gardening, and other enrichment opportunities. These workshops vary depending on the time of the year and local experts in the community.
Is this program faith based?
Our program is secular in its education so that all who are interested in our principles feel welcome, but we are an integral part of the House of Natural Living. As part of that mission, we do have certain rules that we require for participating in our program that align with our values to further our mission and to ensure we maintain a toxin free campus. We do not use chemicals, there are no artificial colors or flavors allowed on campus, and we ask that you send in all healthy foods with your child. We do show gratitude for all things in nature given to us by our Creator and do our best to help our children know there is a purpose for everything, including them. In addition, we do offer weekly religious classes outside of The Magnolia Schoolhouse hours for our children that are members of The House of Natural Living.
How do we assess student progress?
We observe student progress through daily work, long-term projects, presentations, and regular check-ins with our Educational Guides. Rather than frequent testing, we focus on a Learner’s ability to work independently, manage time, engage deeply with material, and apply skills across subjects.
Families receive seasonal narrative reports that reflect academic growth, work habits, and areas of emerging strength. As a homeschool learning center, we welcome families to pursue any additional assessments independently and share them with us if they wish.
