The Admission Process

How do you join this amazing program? Great question? Below are some answers to our common questions about how to enroll your child. We are excited to welcome you!

What is the admissions process?

Because of the uniqueness and intentional design of our program, we require a full campus tour, family interview, and trial day prior to enrollment.

Your child must attend for the entire school day. In some instances, we may request more than one trial day to ensure mutual alignment. Our goal is to determine whether your child will truly thrive in our environment — and whether we are able to meet their needs within the structure of our program.

Magnolia operates as a carefully balanced ecosystem, and we are committed to maintaining excellence for every learner and family within our community.

If, after the trial day(s), your child is accepted into the program, we will schedule a meeting to review and sign the enrollment contract. A non-refundable deposit is required at that time to secure your child’s placement. This deposit is applied toward annual tuition.

Simply:

  1. Schedule a tour with your chosen location
  2. Set and attend a trial date(s)
  3. Submit a letter of recommendation and provide permission for Magnolia to connect directly with your child’s current and/or prior school.
  4. If accepted, make an appoint to come in and sign the contract with your deposit
What are the eligibility criteria?

Eligibility for admission includes a commitment to our values of respect, kindness, and a focus on the whole child. We welcome students ages 3–14 and are committed to fostering a positive, nurturing, and thoughtfully structured environment where every learner can thrive.

To support the unique educational experience we offer, our program is best suited for students who are:

  • Able to participate successfully in a group setting
  • Demonstrating age-appropriate social and emotional development
  • Not currently experiencing significant behavioral challenges
  • Not requiring specialized behavioral, therapeutic, or one-on-one support services

While we deeply respect the individuality of every child, Magnolia is intentionally designed for highly independent learners within a mixed-age classroom model. For this reason, we generally do not admit students beyond 4th grade unless they are coming from a similar learning environment (such as Montessori or another mixed-age program) and are accustomed to this style of independence and community structure.

Our program is not equipped to support students with diagnosed behavioral conditions or those in need of intensive or specialized interventions. This allows us to maintain a balanced, cohesive classroom ecosystem that benefits all learners.

If you are unsure whether Magnolia is the right fit for your child, we welcome a conversation and are happy to guide you thoughtfully through the application process.

How can I schedule a school tour?

Easy! Just give your location a call and schedule it. Or send us an email to [email protected], specifying what location you are interested in and one of our team members will reach out to you to schedule a time and day that works best. Our tours often last a bit longer than an hour as we take the time to answer any and all of your questions and give you our full attention.

How much Parent involvement is required?

We believe in families being together as much as possible, however we balance that with the developmental needs of the child, combined with the best practices of the style of education we provide. If you have a specific special talent you want to bring to the children in the program, speak with the director to see if and how it can be incorporated. We have committees for parents to join that assist with the many fun things we do in the community and at the school, and you can sign up at orientation. If you do not have the ability to be involved, we still love you and are happy to just be able to provide a loving and happy learning environment for your child. There is no obligation for involvement, but we love to have parents involved if they want to be! We have a motto of no gossip, no politics and no stress…just community and love!

What is required for admission?

Required documents include a completed application form, signed contract, emergency contact form, social media form, and previous school records (if applicable). In addition, families are asked to provide written permission to their child’s current and/or prior schools authorizing them to speak directly with Magnolia Schoolhouse as part of our enrollment review process. This step helps us thoughtfully ensure that our program is an appropriate fit for each learner and for our community as a whole.

We will provide all necessary forms at each stage of the process. The only item you will need to supply independently is a letter of recommendation.

Is there a tuition fee for enrollment?

Yes — a non-refundable $500 deposit per child is required at the time of contract signing. This deposit is applied toward annual tuition.

What is the tuition?

We do our best to keep our tuition at cost. As it is part of our mission to simplify life, we include everything in the cost of the tuition. With that mission, each location has a unique tuition, as it is based on the costs of running that location.

The Magnolia Schoolhouse in Vero Beach is $10,800 for the 2025/2026 program year. Your $500 deposit at contract signing goes towards your tuition.

What support services are available?

At this time, there are no support services available. We are a homeschooling learning center. Though we focus on social and emotional learning during our time together, we are not a school and do not provide services that a school would provide. All discipline is expected to happen at home, as we believe in parental autonomy, and you will be called to pick up your child or discontinue with the program if it is determined that support services are needed and we cannot meet your child’s needs.

Who can I call if I want more information?

We would love the opportunity to chat more about our program! At this time, you can call Tara at 772-269-1050 or email [email protected] for more information. If she is unable to answer your call, please leave a detailed voicemail and she will return your call as soon as possible.

The Magnolia Schoolhouse Leaders

Tara Famularo-Del Bianco

Co-Founder & Director

With a background as an attorney and nearly 15 years of experience representing abused and neglected children in New York City’s family court system, my journey into education has always been guided by a deep commitment to the well-being of children. Over time, I witnessed the growing disconnect between modern systems and the true needs of childhood—connection, critical thinking, time with family, and space to grow in their own rhythm.

Motivated by my desire to create something better for my own children, I pursued my Elementary Montessori certification and began shaping what would become The Magnolia Schoolhouse—a place where children are seen, heard, and supported to become independent thinkers and joyful learners. A place where families stay connected, where learning is meaningful, and where childhood is protected.

The Magnolia Schoolhouse was born from love, concern, and the belief that we can—and must—do better. It’s not just a school, but a return to what matters most: children, family, and the freedom to grow with wonder and purpose.

At The Magnolia Schoolhouse, my role is rooted in service—to the children, to our educators, and to the families who entrust us with their most precious beings. I move fluidly throughout the school day, offering lessons, supporting our educators, and stepping into the classroom when needed to guide and nurture. Whether it’s helping children navigate social challenges through roleplay, curating our curriculum with intention, or ensuring our campus radiates peace and positive energy, my work is centered on creating a space where every child feels safe, seen, and inspired.

I also train our educators in Montessori methods and materials, coordinate and host our many events, conference with parents, and plan special experiences for both children and families. Each detail, from our gatherings to the energy in the room, is cared for with love and purpose. Above all, my priority is the well-being and happiness of our children—and it’s a joy and an honor to help cultivate an environment where they can truly thrive.

I could not be more fortunate to work alongside the devoted team that brings this vision to life every day, and to have the unwavering support of my incredible husband—the man behind the curtain—who keeps our campus beautiful, functional, and full of heart.

Michael Del Bianco

Co-Founder and Director of Operations

At The Magnolia Schoolhouse, I work behind the scenes to make sure everything runs the way it should—from the construction and repairs to the plumbing, safety, and overall upkeep of our campus. With a background as a licensed plumber and experience as a field engineer for the Long Island Railroad, I bring practical knowledge and hands-on skills to every corner of the school. If something needs building, fixing, or improving, I’m there—usually before anyone asks. I take pride in making sure our space is not only functional, but beautiful, peaceful, and safe for the children, educators, and families who fill it.

I share in this vision with my wife, Tara, both for our own two amazing children and for all the children who are part of this growing program. I feel incredibly fortunate to be present in their daily lives—to witness their joy, their growth, and their connections. I love spending time with the kids and families, whether it’s helping out during lunch, lending a hand at events, or just being around to share in the everyday magic of our program. The gatherings, the laughter, the shared moments—they’re what make this more than a homeschool learning center; they make it a community.

I’m also deeply grateful for the incredible team we have working in this program. Their shared vision, dedication, and daily efforts are what make The Magnolia Schoolhouse the special place that it is. I’m honored to work alongside them, and proud to help support all that they do to make this space so meaningful for every child who walks through our doors.

I may not be front and center, but I show up every day knowing that the support I provide helps everyone else stand tall and focus on what matters most: the children.
